Summer Reading Program

This summer's reading program theme is Every Hero Has a Story.  CLICK HERE to learn more about all the fun activities we have planned.  Reading folders will be available beginning May 20.  We hope to see you at the library this summer!

 

Summer Storytimes

During the summer we offer Storytime in the Park and Evening Storytime at the Library.  No registration is required.  Stories will be geared to 3 - 5 year olds, but everyone is welcome.

STORYTIME IN THE PARK - For preschoolers & their families

Tuesdays, June 2 - July 21

SUMMER BOOKMARK CONTEST - For 1st - 5th graders

Entry forms available at both libraries and online beginning Wednesday, May 20
Entry deadline is Monday, June 29
Winners announced Monday, July 13
Bookmarks available beginning Monday, July 27

Children entering 1st - 5th grade are invited to design a bookmark for the Olathe Public Library.  Entries will be judged by grade, and prizes will be awarded.  Winning entries will be printed and distributed at both Olathe libraries at the end of the summer.  Entry forms may be picked up at either library, or click here to download the form.


1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten! is a free program is designed to encourage you to read 1,000 books to your child before he or she enters kindergarten.  Click here to learn more and find out how you can get started.

FAMILY READ-ALOUD CLUB

This program is designed for parents to read aloud to their elementary-aged children. To participate in the Family Read-Aloud Club, just stop by the Children's Services Desk and we'll get you started!  Click here for more details.
