Winter/Spring Storytimes

The Olathe Public Library offers a variety of storytimes for children ages 5 and younger.  No registration is required, but space may be limited.  For some storytimes, tickets will be handed out 15 minutes before the program begins.  We encourage you to determine which storytime session is most appropriate for your child and family.

NOTE:  There will be no storytimes during the week of Spring Break, March 13 - 17.

Come to Stagecoach Park for a free 30 minute preschool storytime provided by the Olathe Public LIbrary. No registration required.  In case of bad weather, the storytime will be held inside the community center.

TAPE TOWN - For ages 2 - 6 with adult 

Friday, February 17
1:00 - 3:00 p.m. @ Downtown

Creative play for young car lovers!  Children's ages 2 through 6, and the adults who bring them, are invited to stop by with their favorite toy car or truck to zoom around our library Tape Town.  Make various pit stops along the way to mail a letter at the post office, deposit money at the bank, work out at the gym, and more!  Come and go as you please.  Please limit children to one, non-motorized vehicle.  Don't have a car?  Take one of ours for a test drive!  No registration.

FAMILY CHESS NIGHT - For all ages

Come play chess with a worthy opponent at our Family Chess Nights.  Boards and equipment will be provided.  All ages and playing levels welcome, but kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration.

JUNIOR MAKERS:  PIXEL ART - For 1st - 5th grade

Do you enjoy making things?  Join us for the Junior Makers program, where you will have the chance to create and learn something new.  This month's session will feature Pixel Art.  Program will last 45 minutes to an hour.

BABY BOOK EXPLORERS: EARLY LITERACY SKILLS - For newborn to 24 months with adult

Come to the library with your baby (newborn to 24 months) to read, learn, and play!  A board book will be shared with the group, after which you will have time to explore your own take-home copy of the book together.  Each session will culminate with play as you and your baby engage in various activities adn with sensory manipulatives.  Older siblings are welcome to attend.  Program will last about 45 minutes.

KIDS CODE WITH SCRATCH - For 3rd - 5th grade

Monday, Febuary 27   *Registration begins Monday, February 20

Make something from Scratch, a computer programming language designed for kids!  Children in 3rd through 5th grade will work together to create various projects, such as simple animations.  Program will last about an hour.
