Spring Break is just around the corner.  The library will be offering a variety of fun activities for kids during the week.  Here is a list of what's going on.

  • Free Movie - A Wrinkle in Time
    Monday, March 14 @ 2:00 p.m.
    Main Library

    This movie is rated PG with a running time of 128 minutes.  No registration necessary.  All ages are welcome, but kindergartners and young must be accompanied by an adult.  All seating will be on the floor. 

  • Sudoku for Beginners
    Tuesday, March 15 @ 2:00 p.m.
    Main Library

    This program is for 3rd - 5th graders.  Come learn the basics of the popular number puzzle Sudoku.  Registration is required.  Register at either library or call (913) 971-6874.  Program will last about an hour. 

  • Spring Break Cookie Decorating for Kids
    Tuesday, March 15 @ 2:00-3:00 p.m.
    Indian Creek Branch
         and
    Wednesday, March 15 @ 10:30-11:30 a.m.
    Main Library

    Come decorate a cookie in celebration of spring!  The program is open to all kids 5th grade and younger.  No registration necessary.  Come and go as you please.  Kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult. 

  • Free Movie - Darby O'Gill & the LIttle People
    Thursday, March 17 @ 2:00 p.m.
    Main Library

    Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with this movie classic about leprechauns set in Ireland.  This movie is rated G with a running time of 91 minutes.  No registration necessary.  All ages are welcome, but kindergartners and young must be accompanied by an adult.  All seating will be on the floor. 

  • Free Movie - Despicable Me
    Friday, March 18 @ 2:00 p.m.
    Indian Creek Branch

    This movie is rated PG with a running time of 95 minutes.  No registration necessary.  All ages are welcome, but kindergartners and young must be accompanied by an adult.  All seating will be on the floor. 

  • R.E.A.D. to a Dog
    Saturday, March 19 @ 1:30-2:30 p.m.
    Main Library

    Children of all ages may drop by the library and read to a cuddly canine during the times listed above.  Come to the Children's Desk upon arrival and check in for a reading time.  Reading sessions are limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.  No advanced registration necessary.  For more information, call (913) 971-6874.  Trained therapy dogs provided by Pets of Life, Inc. 

  • Family Chess Night
    Monday, March 21 @ 6:30-8:00 p.m.
    Indian Creek Branch

    Come play chess with a worthy opponent at Family Chess Night.  Boards and equipment will be provided.  All ages and playing levels welcome, but kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration. 

Don't forget---there will no storytimes, Rhyme Time, or To Be Continued programs during the week of Spring Break, but there are lots of other fun things going on.  And as always, we have shelves of great books and movies for you to check out and enjoy at home.  So make the library one of your Spring Break destinations!
