The library's first ever LEGO Contest was a great success.  Twenty-two kids in grades K-5th brought their orignal LEGO creations to the Indian Creek Branch Library on Saturday.  There were some very creative designs including futuristic vehicles, spaceships, a covered wagon, an egg basket, animals, even Mickey Mouse.  It was great fun to see what these skillful and imaginative LEGO lovers came up with.

Our judges had their work cut out for them in awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes in two grade categories:  K - 2nd and
3rd - 5th.  The public also got to vote on their favorites.  There was some stiff competition.  Below are the winners.

1st place in K - 2nd category:  Savindu B.

1st place in 3rd - 5th category:  Riley D.

2nd place in K - 2nd category:  Jonathan O.

2nd place in 3rd - 5th category:  Matthew T.

3rd place in K - 2nd category:  Nathan T.

3rd place in 3rd - 5th category:  Alex G.

There were also four Honorable Mention ribbons awarded:  Eli K., Garrett S. and Aidan D. in the K - 2nd category and Liam D. in the 3rd - 5th category.

Congratulations to our winners!  And thanks to our enthusiastic judges:  Andrea Siemsen, Shelly Souders, and Kathy Ledbetter.

Here are a few of the wonderful designs our contestants created.

There was so much interest in this program that we hope to do it again in future.  If you didn't get a chance to come to our LEGO Contest on Saturday, you can still stop by the Main Library and see the winning designs on display during the month of April.  Thanks to everyone who participated and made this such a fun event!
