The library's participation in "Kansas Reads to Preschoolers" was a big success.  Library staff and volunteers read the book Bunny Cakes to 1,340 preschoolers at various child care centers throughout the city and at the Main Library and Indian Creek Branch Library throughout the week.  Many children recognized Max and Ruby and enjoyed hearing about their attempts to make a birthday cake. On November 17 thirty-seven 3rd-6th graders invaded the Main Library for an after-hours Lock-In at the Library.  The library closed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, as usual, but re-opened at 7:00 for a full four hours of fun!  Activities included relays, charades, pizza, singing, reader's theater, stories, riddles, and book exchange.  A good time was had by all.  What a great way to end Children's Book Week!
