In the Children’s Department at the Main Library we’ve rearranged our collection of nonfiction materials a bit.  Many people don’t realize that fairy tales and folk tales are part of our nonfiction collection, and for this reason they often get overlooked.  In order to make folk and fairy tales easier to find, we’ve pulled them out and shelved them in their own special section.  Look for them where the biographies for kids used to be.

Another part of our nonfiction collection which is sometimes missed is the poetry section.  Again, to make these easier to find, we’ve separated out the poetry books into their own section.  They are now shelved right next to the fairy tales.

If you wonder what happened to the biographies, they are now shelved at the very beginning of the nonfiction section, just across from nonfiction DVDs.  And biography DVDs are now shelved right by the biography books.

If none of this makes sense, just ask for help at the Children’s Services Desk.  It is much easier for us to show you rather than try to explain it here.  Plus, we're still working on updating our signage.  Our ultimate goal is to make things easier to find and make the library a user-friendly place to browse.  Just remember that the fairy tales, folk tales, and poetry books are now all shelved together.  Hopefully, this will help you discover a whole new area of our collection that you may have overlooked.
