Do you love playing chess?  Are you looking for a worthy opponent to challenge your game?  Or are you just learning to play and want to gain more experience?  The Olathe Public Library has some exciting chess opportunities coming in the near future.

Tuesday, January 2 - 9:45 a.m. to Noon
Main Library
This is a tournament for children in grades 1st-6th.  It is for children who already understand the basic rules and moves of the game.  Registration is required.

Live Family Chess Game
Thursday, January 4 - 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Indian Creek Branch Library
Join us for a live chess game that the whole family will enjoy.  Kindergartners through adult may participate as chess pieces.  Costumes will be provided.  No experience necessary.  Registration is required.

Family Chess Nights
Thursday, January 18 - 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Main Library
Monday, February 19 - 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Indian Creek Branch Library
Thursday, March 15 - 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Main Library
Monday, April 16 - 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Indian Creek Branch Library
Our monthly Family Chess Nights will start up again in January.  Play chess with a worthy opponent.  The whole family is invited.  All playing levels welcome.  No registration required.  All ages are welcome, but kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Boards and equipment will be provided at all programs.  You may register for any program at either Olathe library or by calling (913) 971-6874.  Your move!
