Attention all Star Wars fans! Come to the Main Library in downtown Olathe this Saturday, October 5 and celebrate Star Wars Reads Day! Drop by the library between 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. and enjoy a variety of Star Wars themed activities. There will be crafts, displays, books, games, and prize drawings! Lucasfilm fan artist Darryl Woods will be here in person between 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. No registration required. Everyone is welcome. Costumes are encouraged!! Celebrate literacy and all things Star Wars this Saturday. Don't miss it, and may the force be with you.
It's that time of year when caterpillars come to the Olathe Public Library! Once again in the Children's Deparmtent at both Olathe libraries you will find live caterpillars on display. There are Monarchs, Black Swallowtails, and Polyphemus Moths. Whenever you visit the library, be sure to see if the caterpillars have transformed into chrysalises or even emerged as butterflies! At Main the Polyphemus Moth has already disappeared into its cocoon. This is a great opportunity to view a little miracle of nature up close and personal.
Don't forget! This weekend is our Stuffed Animal Sleepover at the Main LIbrary. Bring one of your favorite stuffed animals for a sleepover at the library. You and your stuffed animal will enjoy bedtime stories on Friday, and then your stuffed animal friend will spend the night at the library listening to stories, playing games, and probably staying up very late. Pick them up on Saturday and see some pictures of how the sleepover went. Here is the schedule:
Friday, September 20 - 5:00 p.m. @ Main Library
Listen to bedtime stories and drop off stuffed animals
Saturday, September 21 - 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. @ Main Library
Pick up stuffed animals and see pictures of the sleepover
Don't miss out on this fun event. No registration is required. Remember, only the stuffed animals will spend the night at the library.
